Lin Yunqi was born in Fuzhou, Fujian, and moved to Taiwan with her parents aboard the Taiping Ferry in 1948. After graduating from the Art Department of the Provincial Taipei Normal University in 1961, she continued her studies in the Chinese Painting Group at the Fine Arts Department of the National Taiwan Academy of Arts, graduating in 1967.
In 1970, Lin Yunqi co-founded the Tang Ink Painting Association with fellow artists in the painting and calligraphy communities. This association has since established itself as one of the longstanding art groups in China, making significant contributions and impacting the painting and calligraphy scene in Taiwan.
Currently serving as the president of the Tang Ink Painting Association, Lin Yunqi has also held key positions such as the founding president of the Chinese Women's Calligraphy Association, vice-chairman of the Bamin Painting Association, and vice-chairman of the Yifeng Painting Association. Her artworks have been featured in various exhibitions at prestigious venues such as Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall, Taipei Social Education Center, Taipei City Council Cultural Gallery, Hsinchu Cultural Bureau Art Center, and New Taipei City Art Center. Works by Lin Yunqi are proudly housed in collections at institutions like Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall and Gome Museum.
